What is WebP?
WebP is a modern image format developed by Google, offering superior compression — WebP images are typically 25–35% smaller than JPEG at equivalent quality. However, older software, email clients, and some printing services still don't support it.
Why Convert WebP to JPEG?
- Software compatibility: Not all image editors, email clients, or apps support WebP.
- Printing: Most print services require JPEG or PNG.
- Social media: Some platforms still don't accept WebP uploads.
- Archives: JPEG is a more universal long-term storage format.
Transparency Note
WebP supports transparency (like PNG). When converting to JPEG, transparent areas are automatically filled with a white background, since JPEG doesn't support alpha channels.
